Dale Abbott (ZAM) – Combat-Ready Storyteller, No-BS Mission Chaser, Lifelong Patriot

Hey there, name’s Dale Abbott—callsign ZAM. I’ve been behind the lens and deep in the story trenches for over three decades. What once started as a side hustle turned full-time mission—photojournalism isn’t just a job now, it’s my second career and my front line. I’m a combat-ready storyteller, a truth-hunter, and a relentless investigator with a camera in one hand and a notepad in the other. My work’s been featured in four MarineMax coffee table books, as well as Missouri State Travel, Lake of the Ozarks News & Travel, and a stack of other print and digital outlets that still give a damn about authentic, boots-on-the-ground storytelling over clickbait fluff.

I’ve also walked into some of the world’s oldest questions with a flashlight and a recorder—writing several pieces on the paranormal, pulling investigative duty on the unknown. That’s right—ghosts, hauntings, and unexplained phenomena. I founded VPR (Veteran Paranormal Recon), a team of veterans who don’t scare easy and aren’t afraid to face what most won’t. Whether it’s boots in Iraq or boots in a haunted asylum, I don’t flinch—I investigate.

With over 33 years of successful business ops under my belt, I don’t just show up—I run point. I lead projects like a seasoned NCO: tactical, direct, and no wasted movement. I also don’t sleep much (not sure if it’s the spirits, the caffeine, or just how I’m wired), so while the rest of the world’s counting sheep, I’m burning the midnight oil—researching, writing, editing, and always staying mission-ready. You’ll find me working at all hours, because I never clock out. This mission never sleeps—and neither do I.

Folks who’ve worked with me will all say the same thing: I’m like a dog with a big ol’ bone. Once I sink my teeth in, I don’t let go. I go full throttle—eyes on the target, zero excuses, zero hesitation. Whether it’s journalism, veteran advocacy, or the paranormal unknown—I push until the job’s done right.

I served in the U.S. Army as an 88M (Motor Transport Operator), proudly rolling out during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The Army was the first place in my life that felt like it made sense—structure, brotherhood, and purpose. A freak accident on the homefront ended my military career earlier than I wanted, but the Army left its mark. It taught me loyalty, precision, and how to stand firm in the chaos.

Now I use every skill I’ve learned—on the battlefield, in business, and in life—to chase the truth, tell the untold stories, and support my fellow warriors. I’ve worn many hats: soldier, businessman, journalist, investigator, and ghost-chaser. But no matter the mission, I carry the same code: stay sharp, stay real, and never leave anyone in the dark—living or otherwise.

Bottom line? I’m not just another guy with a camera and a story—I’m a one-man recon unit with grit in his veins, a warrior’s heart, and a mission that doesn’t take a knee. I don’t sleep much, and I sure as hell don’t quit. If the truth is out there—seen or unseen—I’m already hunting it down.
